Charity Partner - Diabetes UK Northern Ireland

Diabetes Uk

Translink has appointed Diabetes UK Northern Ireland as it’s first ever official Charity Partner.

Around 73,500 people of all ages are diagnosed with diabetes in Northern Ireland and it is estimated that up to 10,000 people here have the condition but are unaware of it.  Diabetes UK Northern Ireland works hard to raise awareness of this condition with all fundraising efforts going towards helping local Northern Ireland people.

Pictured announcing the partnership are Catherine Mason, Translink Group Chief Executive, and Iain Foster, National Director for Diabetes UK Northern Ireland.

This partnership will help to raise awareness about diabetes amongst Translink employees, passengers and the wider public as well as highlight the local support network available to help people manage the condition.

We are now working with the charity to develop an exciting employee and passenger engagement programme, which we hope will appeal to everyone and help raise vital funds. Forthcoming activity will be posted here in due course.

Fundraising

Translink employees have already raised a considerable amount of money for people with diabetes in Northern Ireland.  This includes supporting the Diabetes UK Big Family Bike Ride and staff taking part in the Slieve Donard Mountain Climb, the Europa Hotel Abseil and the Ladies Day at the Flicks.

Money has also been raised through the Billy Telford Memorial Golf Day and the New Trains Family Event.
